On this sobre anniversary, I extend sincere condolences on behalf of Canada’s New Democrats. This day marks the end of the sri lankan civil war – a conflict which tore countless families asunder and whose survivors still feel its impact.

The NDP has consistently stood in solidarity with people of Tamil heritage n pursuit of Justice. We are concerned about allegations of human rights violations and support the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights investigation on Sri Lanka. It is our hope that there will be a sustainable process for peace in sri lanka based on respect, dignity and justice for all of the victims of this horrific war.
